Duke Sobek, Director of Operations, is responsible for establishing, overseeing, and evaluating operational procedures to ensure superior customer service and effective resource management policies for all development properties and resorts.
Sobek brings significant competency in large-scale property management to Azul Hospitality Group. He has strong experience in such varied fields as financial management, marketing, operational analysis, human resource management, and customer service make him remarkably adept at developing operational strategies that maximize properties’ efficiency and customer service while streamlining day-to-day operations.
Prior to joining Azul Hospitality Group, Sobek served as the Vice President of a successful San Diego hospitality company, where he recently directed the operations of the firm’s 1,000-room flagship property and oversaw a $10 million renovation of a 277-room luxury hotel.
With a solid track record in optimizing profitability, Sobek also has a reputation for developing innovative, progressive strategies in human resource management that boost employee morale and performance. He is experienced at effectively communicating initiatives, solutions, and objectives to diverse management teams.
Sobek is a co-founder and board member of the Mission Valley Tourism Council, and has served on the board of the San Diego Convention Center Corporation. He was the recipient of the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau’s 2004 Partnership of the Year Award, and in 1996 was recognized by the San Diego Hotel and Motel Association as Hotelier of the Year.
Sobek received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Management at Arizona State University.
